Doug Griger, Pastor. Doug is a native of Omaha, Nebraska, and graduated from Omaha Benson High School. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in secondary education from The University of Nebraska at Omaha. From there he traveled to Kansas City and attended Saint Paul School of Theology where he received his Masters of Divinity degree. In June of 2009 he received his Doctor of Ministry degree from Iliff School of Theology in Denver. He served United Methodist Churches in Papillion, Hastings, and Alliance before coming to Seward in July of 2010. Doug and his wife, Alicia, have three sons; Caleb, Seth, and Isaac.
Cindy Mavis, Director of Music Ministry, Office Administrator. Cindy helps coordinate the different “musical” groups of the Seward United Methodist Church . In addition, she directs “Third Sunday Praise,” a weekend of praise music offered the third Sunday of each month at the 10:30 a.m. worship experience. At other times during the month, she provides accompanist music for each of the worship services, and directs the Children’s Choir. Cindy also can be found in the church office serving at the administrator. Cindy has taught music in school districts throughout Nebraska and Kansas . It is a blessing that she is able to offer her many talents and gifts to the Seward United Methodist Church.
Jim Lee, Director of Church Technology. Jim helps coordinate the technology ministry of the church. He can be found updating computer programs. But, his main responsibility is the technological part of the worship experience assuring the presentation of video clips and power point. Jim also directs and prepares the taping of the 10:30 a.m. worship service that is aired weekly on cable television. When he’s not “doing technology ministry,” look for Jim in the music program, especially on the keyboard during third Sunday praise.
Leslie Stratton, Director of Adult Choir, Youth Bell Choir. Leslie brings her gifts of music to both the Adult Choir and the Youth Bell Choir. The two groups rehearse from September to May and sing/play twice each month helping to enhance the worship experience. During the week, Leslie teaches music at Seward High School .
Virginia Fraser, Organist. Virginia serves as organist, playing several times each month for each of the worship services. Previously, Virginia and her husband, TJ, “traveled” throughout Nebraska service in various United Methodist Churches were TJ was an ordained elder in the Nebraska Annual Conference.
Pam McConnell, Adult Choir Accompanist. Pam has accompanied various musical groups at the Seward United Methodist Church . Currently, she serves faithfully as the accompanist for the Adult Choir.
Alex Sommerfeld, Children’s Choir Accompanist. Alex joined the ranks of church staff in December of 2010, and has been a great addition. An incredibly talented guy that we are blessed to have in our midst!
