The SUMC Mission-Outreach Committee will again collect new and gently-used children, teen and adult winter coats and jackets. Mittens, scarves and warm hats are also needed. This Mission-Outreach project began November 8 and will end on December 13. The winter clothing will then be donated to Blue Valley Community Action Partnership for distribution to those in need throughout the winter. The committee is also planning on contributing some of the children’s jackets/coats to the local schools for distribution as needed.
As our church families determine whether last year’s coats and jackets will fit again this year, Mission-Outreach is providing an opportunity to share with those less fortunate in our community. Coats racks and hangers are decorated just inside the front door of the church. You are invited to contribute as you are able. In 2008, our church donated approximately 180 items of winter clothing for Blue Valley. Let’s try to top that number this year ~ we know the need is certainly higher.
