The Gather and Grow Capital Campaign Team and the Building Improvement Committee are excited to have broken ground on Sunday, June 5th. We look forward as a church community to this exciting new chapter as our building project gets underway.

Several fundraising events have been organized including:

  • A Book Fair in the Church parking lot June 21st – 26th with help from ‘Paige’, Chapters Books and Gifts Bookmobile. In addition, part of the proceeds from all purchases at Chapters Bookstore in Seward on Friday, June 24th, will be donated.
  • Eat Out at La Carreta Mexican Restaurant in Seward on August 8th and 15% of each dine-in and carry out sale will be donated.
  • We’re also happy to report that an anonymous donor has committed up to a five thousand dollar match for time recorded for physical activity or acts of compassion through the Methodists on the Move health emphasis program. The matching fund will be allocated based on the time reported for these activities.
  • Finally, we are excited to announce theGather and Grow Gala on September 22nd at Junto Winery. More information will be coming soon concerning purchasing tables (July Special $900) or individual tickets ($100).

Gather and Grow Funding Campaign

We are stepping forward in faith as a congregation on the move, expanding familiar spaces to invite more people inside. Please pray that the necessary gifts and pledges will be raised for advancing the work of Seward United Methodist Church in Seward and beyond.

90 Day Methodist on the Move ‘3M Challenge’

Movement + Minutes = Money (in cooperation with Faith Community Nursing Ministries)

An anonymous donor wishes to support Methodists on the Move and the South Addition Project with a gift of $5,000.00, but there’s a catch!   The donor is challenging our congregation to work together to earn the gift!  How can we accomplish this?

The Challenge – To enlist 75 or more Seward United Methodist members of all ages and abilities to “actively” raise $5,000.00 to support the New South Building Addition.  The challenge starts 6/19/22 and concludes 9/19/22. We have 90 days this Summer to Move the Money.

The Details – Enlistees will earn one dollar for each 30 minutes of activity recorded up to a maximum of two dollars per day. Caring, spiritual exercise, is also part of the mission of Methodists on the Move. You will earn one dollar for each caring activity recorded up to a maximum of two dollars per day. Remember, daily activity and caring is the goal of the Methodists on the Move. The 3M Challenge Form must be turned in by August 19th.

Ideas for physical activities – walking/running, biking, water aerobics/swimming,  yoga/jazzercise, etc. Kids under 10 can actively play outdoors.

Ideas for caring activities – phone calls, home visits, volunteer, do an errand for a friend/neighbor, write/send cards, etc.

Examples:  A 30-minute walk will earn $1, or a 30-minute caring call will earn $1.  The 90 day ‘3M Challenge’ is on.

UPDATE – ‘3M Challenge’ takes off

For its first week, the 3M Challenge had a great start!  We have 52 people signup (including 9 youth). We can do this, help us look for 23 more participants. Thanks to the 52 “movers” who completed their activity logs and added a total of $741.00 to the South Addition Project. If you haven’t turned in your logs for week one, you still have time to do so. Keep on moving and continue to care for one another!
