Seward United Methodist Church joins other Seward area churches in supporting 2015 Haiti Mission Team

by Jeanne Gee

The Seward United Methodist Women are helping support eleven members of a missionary team who will be returning this summer to Thomassique, Haiti. The Seward UMW and the Mission/Outreach Committee jointly sponsored a donation campaign which provided $600 in cash contributions as well as other needed items such as summer clothing, shoes, eye glasses, medical supplies, sturdy luggage and volleyball equipment.

Eleven members of a missionary team will be traveling to an orphanage/school in Thomassique, Haiti to witness God’s love to the staff, students and community. A physician will be traveling with the team to provide medical care. The team members are students of Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska, a few of them are returning to Haiti for a second time. In the past six years, members of the Seward faith community have contributed to Mission efforts in Haiti in many ways including efforts to provide wells for clean water, assistance for enlarging the school as well as providing for the students living at the orphanage.

The Haiti Mission Team will depart Nebraska on July 27th and return on August 12th. If they have time and Internet, they will update their Facebook page. Your prayers for safe travels and the success of the mission trip are an important way to support these missionaries. We look forward to members of the missionary team sharing information about their latest trip to Haiti with our congregation!
