United Methodist Women is the largest denominational faith organization for women with approximately 800,000 members whose mission is fostering spiritual growth, developing leaders and advocating for justice. Members raise up to $20 million each year for programs and projects related to women, children and youth in the United States and in more than 100 countries around the world. This years Program Book is available online.
The Seward United Methodist Women have hosted our Annual Church Bazaar for over 60 years. Saturday, November 9th is the date for the 2019 Four Seasons Bazaar. Proceeds from this successful all-church event will provide funding for our unit’s mission efforts locally, regionally and worldwide as well as our support of recent improvements to our church facility.
The Seward United Methodist Women, SUMW, meet in the Fellowship Hall or Parlor for
- An Evening Program at 7:00pm on the third Thursday of each month.
- A Unit Meeting at 1:30 pm on the first Wednesday of each month.
All SUMW members may attend either/both of these gatherings. Guests are always welcome.

UMW Reading Group – Maxine Moore
We meet every 3rd Wednesday 5:00 – 6:30PM as a group to discuss books from the UMW Reading Program. You need not have read the book to join the discussion.
UMW Mission Saturdays Group – Susan Walsh and Corky Malmberg
A flexible schedule that usually meet one Saturday a month January through August. Work begins at 8:30 and continues until early afternoon. You may come and go as your schedule permits. Work involves sewing and quilts for the Annual Bazaar, Epworth Village, Friendship Home, UMCOR or other areas of need. Work is available for all skill levels. Holy Scrappers Group – Rosie Westerhoff
A group of quilters meet every Wednesday at 9:00AM. Work involves sewing and quilts for the Annual Bazaar, Epworth Village, Friendship Home, UMCOR or other areas of need. Work is available for all skill levels.
Creative Hands (formerly the Knit Wits) Group – Sarah Shively
A ministry to knit blankets for baptisms, prayer shawls and lap robes is evolving into a group for anyone who wants to use their hands in creative ways for ministry. This group will include those who enjoy knitting, crocheting, sewing, painting, and drawing. We will be “creating” many types of items include prayer shawls, pillows & blankets, baby blankets & hats, handmade cards, bookmarks and other art.
We meet every month on the third Thursday in the church Parlor from 6:00-7:00pm to discuss, create, and pray over one-of-a-kind creations for outreach ministry. Everyone young or not-so-young can join us. Contact Sarah Shively with any questions or requests.
Lady Cross Makers Group – Marty Bender
