As a nonprofit childcare center, Bright Beginnings operates solely on tuition, grants and donations from caring contributors. We appreciate your consideration! If you’d like to make a donation to the Bright Beginnings childcare ministry, please mail your check or drop it off at the church office, 1400 N. 5th Street, Seward, NE 68434, with "Bright Beginnings" in the memo line.

Tax Credits for Donations

Did you know you can support Bright Beginnings Child Development Center, a ministry of Seward United Methodist Church, and get 75% of your contribution back as a credit on your Nebraska tax return?

The Child Care Tax Credit Act provides nonrefundable tax credits to taxpayers who make qualifying contributions during the tax year and submit an application to the Nebraska Department of Revenue.

The state has set aside $2.5 million for this tax credit program, and as of July 1, $690,000 remain in the funding pool. This is a great way to keep your tax dollars in Seward while helping our mission of providing quality childcare to our community's youngest residents.

Contributions, not to exceed $100,000 per donor for any single year, may be in the form of cash, check, cash equivalent, agricultural commodity, livestock, or publicly traded security. Any unused credit may be carried forward for the next five years after the credit was first granted but must be used in the earliest year possible. A taxpayer may only claim a credit on the portion of the contribution that was not claimed as a charitable contribution on their federal return.

How to contribute
1. Complete a form CCTC-A, found HERE, or pick one up in the church office.
2. Drop off the form and your check at the church office, or mail to Bright Beginnings CDC, 1400 N. 5th Street, Seward, NE 68434.
3. Bright Beginnings will complete the receipt form CCTC-R and upload both documents to the Nebraska Department of Revenue.
4. The Department of Revenue will review the application and send you a statement to submit when you file your taxes.
